According to article 10 of Law 1300/1982, police regulations establish the obligations of working animal owners and breeders, especially regarding the supply of certificates for retention and surveillance of flocks and their movements during the summer months in grazing areas and vice versa, the place and manner of documentation referring the increase or decrease of the flocks, the ways of transferring the animals and the slaughter places, where no permanent slaughterhouses exist.

Police regulations also specify the method and time of marking the animals, as well as other relevant marking details. The marking under surveillance of the Municipalities or the local Communities, which may use for this purpose municipal officials and organs of the Countryside Police, the Gendarmerie and individuals if necessary. (e.g. Judgment 10/2006: Measures for prevention and repression, Police Directorate of Heraklion.

The Police may order the detection of toxic substances and poisons under Article 3, par. 3, point P, c of the Presidential Decree 455/90 (Government Gazette 174 / 14.12.1990). The order is addressed to the Department of Toxicology of the Institute of Biochemistry Animal toxicology in Athens, Centre of Veterinary Institutions (Neapoleos Street 25, 15310, Ag. Paraskevi, 210 6011684, 210 6010925 (int. 114).
